Research

Our group participates in a wide range and scale of research topics, grouped in to three main themes: education, environment and glacial. Each section contains a description of both current projects and projects that have recently been completed. Simply click on a picture below to enter a research area. Please feel free to contact our group for more information about any of these research areas.

Research Focus Areas

In geoscience education research we seek to understand how different people learn geoscience concepts, and to examine the effectiveness of different teaching approaches. Our current work includes investigating children’s environmental concepts, both in the US and in other countries. <more>

Past and future land use and climate change has profound impacts on surface and ground water, and water quality. Our focus is on developing user-oriented approaches that reconstruct past land use and climate change impacts on hydrology, and allow evaluation of the impacts of different possible future land use scenarios. <more>

Our focus in glacial geomorphology is on using cosmogenic radionuclide approaches to understand how and when glacial landforms were produced by glaciers and ice sheets. Our current work includes landform and ice sheet reconstructions in Scandinavia and the Tibetan Plateau. <more>
