Research Interests

Environment: Development of community-oriented tools to asses impacts of land use and climate change on water resources and nonpoint source pollution; construction site erosion and sediment control.

Geomorphology: Currently focusing on new insights into erosion patterns and basal thermal regimes of former ice sheets in Scandinavia and on the Tibetan Plateau using cosmogenic nuclide approaches.

Education Research: Assessing impacts of inquiry-based environmental activities on student ideas and teacher practice, focusing on middle school students and in-service training for middle school teachers.

Teaching Interests

Undergraduate courses in environmental sciences and applied geomorphology, graduate courses in hydrology/geomorphology, applied environmental geosciences, and glacial geomorphology, and pre-service and in-service programs on inquiry science for K-12 teachers.
