Research Interests

My students and I study the evolution of the solid earth, particularly the continental and oceanic crust, and underlying mantle lithosphere. My research group integrates field based structural studies with petrology, geochemistry, geophysics and numerical models to gain insight into the processes that control tectonics. Current research areas include the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, the Al Hajar Mountains of Oman, and the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and New Mexico. Integration of petrology and geochemistry with structural geology and geophysics is the hallmark of my research, and students in my group often combine aspects of each of these fields into their research.
